Three ways to work with me
You don't need an AI strategy department. You need someone who can look at your business, tell you straight where AI fits, build it, and make sure your people use it. That's what I do. Pick one, or do all three in order.
How pricing works: Every business is different, so I don't list prices. After our intro call, I'll send a clear proposal with the scope, the timeline, and a fixed quote or estimate. No surprises.
01 / explore
Explore: find where AI can actually help
Before you spend money on tools, find out what's worth doing. I'll learn how your business runs and show you where AI will pay off, where it won't, and what to do first.
Who it's for
- Owners and managers who keep hearing "you should use AI" and want a straight answer about what that means for them.
- Teams already trying a few AI tools on their own, without a plan or any rules.
- Businesses that want a second opinion before signing up for an AI product or a big contract.
What you get
- Time with me learning your business: your goals, your bottlenecks, and the work that eats your team's week.
- An honest look at the tools and data you already have. Often the best first step uses software you already pay for.
- A clear, short list of opportunities, ranked by how much they'd help and how hard they are.
- A plain-English plan you can act on, with or without me.
Typical deliverables
- Interviews or working sessions with you and the people doing the work.
- A short written report: top opportunities, a recommended first project, rough effort, and what to skip.
- Risks to watch, in plain language: customer data and privacy, accuracy, and where a person needs to stay in the loop.
- Tool recommendations, including when the right answer is "you don't need anything new."
- A readout meeting to walk your team through the plan and answer questions.
How it starts
A short intro call. If it's a fit, I'll send a clear proposal with the scope, timing, and a fixed quote or estimate.
02 / set-up
Set up: build it and connect it
This is where the plan turns into something your team can actually use. I build the AI tools and automations, connect them to your software and data, and test them on your real work.
Who it's for
- Businesses that know what they want AI to do (or just finished an Explore) and need someone to build it properly.
- Teams whose information is spread across email, spreadsheets, documents, and business software that don't talk to each other.
- Companies without in-house developers, or with a small IT team that's already stretched.
What you get
Depending on what your plan calls for:
- AI assistants that know your business. Ask a question in plain English and get an answer drawn from your own documents and records, not the open internet.
- AI agents. "Agent" just means an AI that can take steps on its own, like reading an incoming email, pulling out the details, and updating the right system. I build these with guardrails, so a person approves anything important.
- Connections to your existing tools. Your CRM, email, shared drives, spreadsheets, and industry software, so information flows without copy and paste.
- Workflow automations for repetitive work, like sorting, summarizing, drafting, and routing.
- Quality checks. I test the AI against real examples from your business and track how it does, so you know it's reliable before anyone depends on it. It's the same discipline I use at BLDX.
// built with: OpenAI · Anthropic · xAI · Mistral · LangChain · Vercel AI SDK · LangSmith
I use whichever model fits the job. I'm not tied to one vendor.
Typical deliverables
- A working tool or workflow, set up in your accounts.
- Connections to the systems agreed in the plan.
- A test set of real examples and a record of how the AI performed against it.
- Access and data settings reviewed, so sensitive information goes only where it should.
- Plain-English documentation: what it does, how to use it, what to do when something looks wrong.
- A handoff session with whoever will own it day to day.
How it starts
Usually with an Explore, so we're building the right thing. If you already have a clear, well-defined project, we can start with a short scoping call instead. Either way, you get a proposal with a fixed quote or estimate before any build work starts.
03 / train
Train: get your team actually using it
Most AI rollouts don't fail because the tech is bad. They fail because nobody changes how they work. I train your people on the tools they'll really use, with examples from their own jobs.
Who it's for
- Teams that have AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, or something built for them) but barely use them.
- Businesses rolling out a new AI tool and wanting it to stick.
- Leaders who want clear, simple rules about what's OK to put into AI and what isn't.
What you get
- Hands-on sessions built around your team's real tasks, not generic demos.
- Practical habits: how to ask AI for what you need, how to check its work, and when not to trust it.
- Simple written guidance your team can follow on day one.
- Someone to call with questions while the new habits take hold.
Typical deliverables
- Workshops for your team, grouped by role where it helps (front office, sales, operations, leadership).
- A short playbook for each group: tasks to use AI for, example requests to copy, and how to check results.
- A plain-language AI use policy: what data can go into which tools, and what needs a human review.
- A briefing for owners and managers on what to expect and how to measure whether it's working.
- Follow-up office hours.
How it starts
Tell me how big your team is and what tools you use now. I'll suggest a format that fits and send a proposal with a fixed quote or estimate. Training can happen in person around Newton, Des Moines, and central Iowa, or remotely anywhere.
Let's figure out where to start.
Book a short intro call. We'll talk about your business, and I'll tell you which of these makes sense first, if any.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what you need, so I don't post prices. After our intro call, I'll send a clear proposal with a fixed quote or estimate. You'll know the cost before you commit to anything.
Do I need to buy new software?
Not necessarily. I often start with tools you already pay for. When something new is worth it, I'll explain why and what it costs.
Is my data safe?
It's one of the first things we look at. I'll show you which tools keep your data private, set up access properly, and write down simple rules for your team. I've worked on healthcare systems that had to meet HIPAA requirements, so I take this seriously.
Will AI replace my staff?
That's not what I build. The goal is to take the repetitive work off your people's plates so they can spend more time on the work only they can do.
What if AI isn't right for us yet?
Then I'll tell you. An honest "not yet" is a fine result for an intro call.
Do you only work with businesses in Iowa?
No. I'm based in Newton, Iowa. I meet local clients in person around Newton, Des Moines, and central Iowa, and I work remotely with businesses anywhere.
